In today’s world, society as a whole has come to realize that education is an essential part of safe sex, and safe sex is an essential part of enjoying a healthy sexual relationship. Condoms are truly one of the most popular forms of contraceptives because the items are easily accessible, are less expensive and are easy to use.
Experts said that condoms have the potential in helping eradicate completely the spread of communicable sexually transmitted diseases like acquired immune deficiency syndrome or AIDS, gonorrhea and herpes. On top of that, condoms also help alleviate and prevent unwanted and unplanned pregnancies especially among teenagers.
However, there is still a need to properly educate people on how to use a condom. While it is true that there are more couples now who are preferring to use this contraceptive over others, it is also a fact that more of these users still do not know how to use a condom appropriately and effectively. As a result, human error accounts for a large portion of condom failure, which defeats the purpose of condom usage in the first place.
There are many people in educational fields nowadays that have moved to include in their academic curricula subjects tackling safe and protected sex. Now, everyone should be made aware on how to use a condom. There are limitless resources online and in the real world to promote and disseminate the knowledge on how to use a condom properly and correctly.
As a short lesson, here are the simple procedures on how to use a condom correctly:
1. When there is complete erection, carefully take out the condom from its wrapper. Usually, condom packs are made of easy to open aluminum foils. Take the item out of the wrapper using your fingers, not your teeth as this may put holes in it.
2. Gently squeeze the tip of the condom before rolling the condom around the shaft. The squeezing act would make sure there would be no air trapped on the tip. The tip of the condom would be where the semen would be trapped during orgasm. Make sure the condom is gently put on from the head down until the base.
3. If something doesn’t feel right, check during intercourse if the condom is still worn. There are times when the latex voluntarily slips off of the shaft. When the condom has slipped off, there is a need to replace it with a new one.
4. After orgasm, gently put out the condom while the penis is still hard. Make sure to hold the item at its base to prevent leakage and slippage of the trapped semen at the tip.
The proper knowledge on how to use a condom would not be complete if the use would not be aware about how to dispose the used item. To do so, carefully wrap the used condom in a piece of tissue or paper before disposing it to the trashcan. It is not advisable to flush the used condom down the toilet bowl.
If you know how to use a condom correctly, there is a greater chance that you would be secured that any risks linked to unprotected intercourse would be prevented.
