Body Fat and Losing Weight

Q.
I have been doing the proper resistance and cardio training for four weeks and have only lost 2 lbs. Does it take a certain amount of time for your body to adjust? When will the real weight loss come? Please help!

A.
Everyone is different. It also depends what percent body fat you currently have. If you only have 5 to 10 pounds to loose to meet your "Optimal" weight (not your desired weight), then you will probably not loose as fast as someone who has a higher extra body fat content (example 30 or more pounds).

The more fat you have on your body the more energy you burn during each exercise workout and also the less actual body fat you have the less calories you burn with the same amount of work-out.

Another thing you might try is measuring your thighs, abdomen, hips and upper arms. If you are replacing fat with muscle you will loose inches but not pounds because muscle is heavier than fat.
